本課程的主要⽬的為提升碩⼠班研究⽣下列能⼒：
1.撰寫研究計畫書：例如構思研究主題、進⾏文獻探討、擬定研究⽅法。
2.進⾏⼝頭報告：例如製作簡報，進⾏⼝頭報告，以及答辯。
3.參與評論與討論：例如應用研究法知識，評論其他同學的報告。

The objectives of this course is to improve the following abilities of graduate students:
1. Developing a research proposal: such as conceptualizing the study topic, conducting literature review, and developing study methods.
2. Giving oral presentations: such as preparing a presentation file, giving an oral presentation, and responding questions or comments.
3. Providing comments: such as applying knowledge in research methods to comment fellow student’s oral presentation.  

課程目標
 學生應能運⽤研究法課程所學之⽅法，提出碩士論文計畫書草案，其內容應包括論文題目的重要性、文獻探討，研究問題、研究假說、研究設計、資料蒐集方法及資料分析⽅法等。

Students should be able to apply their knowledge in health service research methods to develop a master’s thesis proposal. The content of the proposal should include the rationale of identified topic, results of literature review, study questions, study hypotheses, study design, data collection, and data analyses.  
課程要求
 一、暑假期間應著手草擬一份mini proposal，並於開學後第⼀週繳交。該mini proposal⼤綱如下：1.論文題⽬、2.研究背景與目的(包含研究問題的現況、知識缺⼝、研究⽬的、研究預期貢獻)、3.文獻探討(請回顧5-10篇相關的文獻)、4.研究方法(包含研究設計與架構、研究假說、研究對象、資料來源、研究變項與操作型定義、統計分析方法[包括描述性統計、推論性統計、統計軟體等]、研究限制)、5.參考文獻(參考臺灣衛誌格式)。內容請以10⾴(不含參考文獻與圖表)為原則，以Word交到作業區。
二、學⽣應於本學期課程中發表口頭報告2次，第一次報告12分鐘、第二次報告25分鐘。報告第⼀次為研究背景與目的、文獻探討；第⼆次為完整計畫書。
三、學⽣需分配擔任評論者，每⼀報告者需有1位評論者。評論者與參與討論者均需繳交簡報檔。
四、全體學⽣需對報告者及評論者之表現給予評分。
五、報告學⽣最遲需於前⼀週的週五，將報告之內容(簡報檔)寄給評論同學及助教，並由助教統⼀上傳及轉寄授課老師。
六、評論學⽣最遲需在當天課程開始前，將評論之內容(簡報檔)寄給授課老師。

Course requirement:
1. During summer vacation, students should start formulating a mini proposal of their thesis and turn it in at the first week of this course. The mini proposal should include: 1) Thesis title, 2) Background and objectives (including current status of the study question, knowledge gap, study objectives, and contributions), 3) Literature review (please review 5-10 related articles), 4) Study methods (including study design, study hypotheses, study subjects, data sources, study variables and operational definitions, statistical analysis [including descriptive analysis, inference analysis, and statistical software], and study limitations), and 5) References. Please use Word file and keep the content to around 10 pages (references, tables and figures not included)
2. Students should give 2 rounds of presentations. The first presentation is 12 minutes, and the second is 25 minutes long. The first round is to present background, objectives and literature review. The second round is to present the complete proposal.
3. For each presenting student, one of the fellow students will be assigned to give comments. Both presenter and commentator need to turn in their briefing files.
4. All the students need to grade the performance of each presenter and commentator.
5. Presenting students need to mail their files to commentators and teaching assistant by the Friday of the previous week. The teaching assistant will upload them to NTU Cool and forward them to the teachers.
6. Commentators need to send their comment files to the teachers before the start of the course.
